This time to one of our training band percussionists, Noah, for acheiving merit in his grade 1 drum exam..... :)

Chester placed 17th (of 20) at the regionals in Blackpool. This means Chester will stay in the 3rd section, but need a really good result in 2009 to avoid relegation to the 4th section.

The Welcome to Chester & Cheshire What's on magazine is running a competition to win one of 3 band CD's......

Aine Jackson - main band 1st bari and training band bass player had a gret day in the annual Queens School Music Festival. She fought off stiff competition to retain the Gill Church brass cup, and also took the intermediate piano class!

The band also took delivery of their new flag banners. Designed by our friend Niall at Plain Design, the 4 banners can be used both indoors and out. You can see TOny modelling a banner and Aine with her cup in the photo gallery.

Sunday March 2nd 6-7.30pm band room - I know it's Mother's day but see if you can get out for an hour-and-half please :)

Friday March 28th - Sunday March 30th - band trip to London/Longleat :)

Monday March 31st - no rehearsal.... rest after the trip!

Sunday 10th Feb: bass section at 7pm, band room

Saturday 23rd Feb: 10:30-3pm, Huntington Church

Saturday 8th March: 10:30-3pm, HUntington Church

Other rehearsals as normal for now.... watch this space.

We've just sold our first CD on-line :)

With over 100 CD's sold so far it's going well.

March '08 Tour. Planning for this is well on-schedule, with over 60 participants signed-up for the March tour to London and Longleat.

Summer Tour. This is now being moved to 2009, and planning will commence immediately the March tour is over....

Concert plans. A major concert is now in-planning. Ideas for venues etc asap!

CD sales. Going well, even though we haven't officially launched the CD yet. Nearly 100 sales so far :)

Trombone vacancy. We're still looking for another trombone player - just give us a call.

Rehearsal nights. For now rehearsals will stay at Monday and Friday. Further discussions are planned however to look at alternatives - the aim being to get full attendance at rehearsals as the number 1 priority!

You can catch some smiling 'awardees' in our photo gallery. Alice getting the certificate for her Grade 2 with distinction (on trombone), as reported in December, from Vice President David Else... Val getting the monthly achievement award, and Tony receiving the top-level validation certificate from the Cheshire Voluntary Services team. This certificate recognises that the Training Band has all the required systems and procedures in-place to operate safely and effectively - thanks to Tony and Paula for all their hard work as this is a major achievement.
