'Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We are all affected by cancer. One in three of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lives. We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. We are Macmillan.'
The Band is supporting the annual McMillan Cancer Support Carol Concert held in Chester Cathedral on Friday December 5th at 7.30pm. Tickets are available on the door or in advance from [email protected]
Note this has meant that our annual Concert at St Luke's Church in Winnington has been to moved to a Saturday night (6th).
Some changes will be taking place to band e-mail mid November. We will be moving our e-mail service out to Google Apps.
This won't make any difference to your e-mail address [email protected] and you'll still be able to collect your e-mail either online through webmail or in your favorite mail program - such as Outlook, Thunderbird or iMail.
More information will be sent to existing users as you will need to change your server settings if you are using a mail program on your computer.
Any main band or training band members who don't currently have a @chesterbrass.co.uk e-mail address, but would like one should contact Philip through the Contact page on this site.
If your under 18, you'll need your parent/guardian to approve before we can set it up.
The TB on Monday 6th October has been moved to Weds 8th October and will be in the band room.
Catch the band on Saturday 27th, playing together with Farndon Band at Chester races!
At the charity concert on Friday night the band bid 'adieu' to solo horn player Kirsty Blain. Kirsty is off to Aberystwyth to uni, and will be a great loss to the band. Kirsty started in the training band and progressed to solo horn in the main band - featuring on the band's CD (for sale on this site!). More recently she took on tutoring duties with some of the training band youngsters, including her first exam success with Liam Jackson.
Of course the band is hoping that her career moves will bring her back to Chester sometime in the future, but for now we wish Kirsty well at uni. Kirsty was presented with a 'Saxophone' stand and a photo book of the CD recording weekend at the recent solo competition and on Friday night the main band presented her with the now traditional 'uni pack' of pots and pans.
