Two members of the Training Band have been at it again with recent success in music exams. Libby Bentley acheved Grade 5 with Merit on the Trombrone and her brother Jacob got Grade 6 with Merit on the Cornet. And also there little sister Rebekah got Grade 2 with Distinction on the Cornet another budding player . Well done to you all and keep up the great work .
Unfortunately this event has been cancelled - they're concerned about the weather. Shame as it's a summer highlight for the band with strawberries and cream! Let's hope we make it next year.
Training Band are reminded we have Mark Wilkinson from Fodens Band with us on Monday (13th) night so make sure you're there!
The training band raised over £200 for band funds at their recent river outing. This money is essential for the future of the band and will go a long way towards supporting workshops and musical outings later in 2009. The band also picked up 2 new players! Even more important than the cash!

Events will be managed as last year. First contact/enquiries to Rob Fletcher. A committee member will be nominated as event coordinator. Band Manager will organise required equipment and personnel.
Over £200 was raised at a main band concert in Helsby on Friday 19th June. The money was raised to support young potential olympic para-athletes who are heading to a major event in Birmingham. Conducted by MD Phil Mottershead the band played a programme with an olympic theme that both challenged the band and thrilled the audience at the Helsby Club.

The Training Band wowed the crowd by the river as they played on The Groves bandstand today. The weather held and an appreciative audience thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The band also managed to recruit a new trombone player and was joined by several main band members - one who was only out walking his dog!
The next outing for the training band is to Sandiway Manor in July.

Elizabeth MacDonald - daughter of Rob and Mandy, has just passed her grade 3 cornet exam with distinction. Elizabeth will be out with the training band on Sunday (21st June) at the Groves bandstand.
The sun was shining on the locals in Aldford on Saturday as the village had their annual Fete and the Training Band were there in force to play in the baking hot sun! We also had a stall at the fete to help raise funds for the T/B and I would like to thank the following for their kind donations. J Sainsburys (Chester) ,Millies Cookies (Mall chester) , Barry Callebaut Uk Ltd (Chester) and P&A Davis (Hoole).The feedback on the day was that the Band helped make the fete a very enjoyable day.
The next outing for the training band is The Groves 1pm on Sunday Jne 21st. Main Band members are encouraged to come along and sit-in.
