Karen Urmston, The Hospice of The Good Sheperd Fund Raising Mgr, gave a talk to both bands on Mon 25th Nov.
Our first event is in support of their Light up a Life service on Sunday 15th December 2002, when a small group will support the carols.
Watch this space for future Hospice events, or checkout www.hospiceofthegoodshepherd.com
Over the Xmas period the band is out fund raising - it really has a hole in the roof to fix, at an estimated £3-4,000
In town, and at the superstores, we can collect the same in each collecting can.... the more collectors we have, the more money we have, and the more chance we have of fixing the roof.
Just come along for 1/2 an hour or so.... please do your bit :-)
Well we printed the bad news... broken fingers etc.
Now the good news, as seen in full colour in The Chronicle this week.
Upton U14 girls team has got through to the North West Section of a National Competition, by beating all Cheshire teams!
Why bother? Well it's all due to Chloe (tenor horn), Helen, (Bari), Lauren and Lizzie (cornet), or at least that's what they told me!
Sounds like more potential clashes between banding and sport might lie ahead :-)
Thanks to all those who turned up the other Saturday to spring clean the
band room, and remove the urinals from the gents. One C5 Estate full of
rubbish was taken to the tip at the end of the day.... Thanks to Dave,
Paul, Les, Phil and Ian.
18.30 – 19.15 Training Band (no tuition)

This will be followed by a Main Band rehearsal in the scout hut, with TB players encouraged to sit-in, to say 9pm. All players and friends are most welcome to come along at 7.1
We've now finalised the badge/sticker we’ll be producing as part of our 150 year celebrations and we'll put it on the website shortly.
Remember we’ve partnered with The Hospice of The Good Shepherd for next year, see 25th Nov below.

* Hospice Massed Band Concert, Dec 14th, Cathedral.
Successful high profile outing in the Chester Town Centre last Thursday. Not so successful getting mentioned in the press, but a good event with a big crowd. Well done for a good turnout at a tricky time of 5pm on a weekday. Marching to carols.... interesting.
Let's be careful out there. 1 broken finger (netball), I bad toe, I
bashed arm and nose (dog walking).... Helen, Kirsty and Harry! Swift recoveries!

As part of our 150th celebrations we're looking at putting together a bit of a history in a programme style.
BUT we're really short of old photo's of the band, and old stories/history!
Please contact me if you've anything of interest. I'll arrange collection, scanning and return.
