Paula's last official event.....
Paula Bell Training Band Musical Director is leaving to move North with her loved one (Chris).
Musical Director required for the TB.... contact ian C if you're interested :-)
This week saw the return of Brian Greenwood, all the way from sunny Spain. Brian previously played with the band some nine years ago on Solo Euph, before moving to "warmer climes".
Brian has now rejoined the band to taken up Solo Trombone, a position which had been vacant for some time.
Welcome back Brian!
Congrats to our ex Horn Player Andrew Hornsey and Sarah, on their recent wedding in Swindon.
Several band members joined the lucky couple last Sat (21st), and enjoyed a great day; including a super performance from Pegasus Swindon band in the church!
Andy's now a bass player for those who don't know.... well it takes all sorts.
Best wishes from us all at Chester...
Sad news for the band. Our TB Conductor Paula is moving up to Blackburn to be with Chris (ahhhhh). Apparently Blackburn is too far to make rehearsals!!
So we're looking for a new conductor for the training band.
It's fun, frustrating, rewarding..... etc!
All interested parties contact Ian Clowes through the contact page in confidence. or if you're feeling brave, or just interested, pop along to a Monday night rehearsal. Enthusiasm, Stamina, Enthusiasm, Ambition.... all required!!!! And you need to 'want to have fun'.
It was the 3rd Annual Well Dressing at Mickle Trafford on Sun 22nd. The 3rd the band has payed at :-)
Following a church service at Plemstall the band led a procession down Plemstall Lane to St Plegnums Well.
Short service, and then we moved on to the Meadows - Very HOT!
Thanks to all who turned up. The kids certainly enjoyed the percussion session - let's hope it will bring in some new members.
The cuddly toy hangings continue.... don't know what that means, then come along next year and find out :-)
Thanks to all who stayed on after the Lord Mayors Parade to play 'black book' stuff and do some recruiting for the training band.
It's not easy to know if we've any new players, but certainly we brought brass to a few who would otherwise have missed it! And I think the band enjoyed it too - Phil 'Mott' was certainly a star commentator!!
Potentially some long trips to rehearsals though, with participants from Austria, Germany, Dublin, Lincoln, Somewhere in the far east etc! Oh and a few from Chester too...
If you're one of those who gave it a go, drop us a line in our guest book, and let us know where you're from and the webiste of your own bands... Next time let us know you're coming and join us for a rehearsal.
If you did try out an instrument (or would like to), then come along to our training band on a Monday night at Mickle Trafford Scout Hut. Alternatively check out our events section and come along to a future event and have a chat or another go!
OK another corny headline - but it was!
Tibbett and Britten fun day, celebrating 10 years of their work with B&Q. The event was moved inside at the last minute so we finally got dried off....
Rumour was that the rain was organised specially to allow Ellen McArthur (guest of honour) to bring her new Kingfisher Trimaran along!
The band resisted the tempation to play Sailing or Singing in the Rain..
rehearsal night June 6th (fri)
there was a discussion about the musical programme for the Cathedral Concert.
The final chance for input is over! Framework is now sorted, and will be posted.... main change is the removal of Resurgam, being substituted by two lighter pieces -to be confirmed by MD Derek Mitchell.
Next Cathedral/celebrations planning meeting is on Sunday 15th 11am band room. Help is really needed, so come along and see what you can contribute.
Normal on Monday - don't forget TB at Mickle Trafford, 6.30 - 7.30
Friday under review as it's the Whit Marches outing :-)
Confirm Monday...watch this space
It must be a record. Jon Vail (solo horn) flew in from the UAE just for Friday's band rehearsal. HE said something about meetings in Manchester, but we know the truth! Good to see you Jon.... putting in solo trom on a baritone :-)
Also there on Friday was another horn player - our webmaster Philip Clowes, home for the summer from college...
And on Monday we welcomed back solo cornet Julie, fresh from completed her degree (fingers crossed)...
Just like the good old days!
